Caraline Kernan
Caraline returns to the JLK Coaching Staff for her second season. Caraline is a JLK and Alter Alumni. She was a Team Captain of the 2022 State Championship Team. In addition, she won an AAU National Championship as a 7th Grader. Caraline was 2nd Team All-GCL in her Senior season. Caraline looks forward to working again with this year's Third Graders.

4th Grade
Elizabeth Hogue
Elizabeth Hogue was born and raised in Kettering, OH. She is a graduate of Chaminade Julienne H.S. and was part of the 1999 State Championship basketball team. After high school, Elizabeth attended Bethel College in Mishawaka, IN where she continued her basketball career until she enrolled in the police academy. Elizabeth has been serving as a law enforcement officer for the last 19 years and she is currently a detective for the Huber Heights Police Division. Elizabeth is married with two daughters, Sophia, 8, and Audrey, 10 and they are both playing in the JLK program.
5th Grade
Jesse Brand
Jesse has been coaching basketball for the past 14 years from recreational to high school aged AAU. Jesse has coached with the JLK program for the past 5 years and with the SDK program 5 years prior to that. Jesse is an excellent fundamentals coach. His main goals for this season are teaching the basics and following through with the basics in the game setting.

6th Grade
Mike Shumaker
Mike has lived in the greater Dayton area for 17 years now after attending UD for grad school. He and his wife, Julia have 3 kids. Lana 14, Mya 12, and Cora 10.
This is Mike's fourth year as a head coach after serving as an assistant the previous two seasons.
7th Grade
Amy Hansley
Amy will begin her 19th year of coaching this season, and her third with JLK. She has also coached for Lebanon, Team Ohio, and Dayton Lady Hoopstars. Amy has coached in multiple AAU State championships. She holds an USA Basketball Gold License, as well as first aid, concussion and CPR certifications. Amy focuses on fundamentals, footwork details and reading the floor with her players. She is a 1996 graduate of Archbishop Alter and has two children, Payton and Emma. Proudest coaching memory was watching Emma win a State Championship her senior year, after coaching her since she was 5.
8th Grade
Rob Carruth
Rob returns this year for his 11th season coaching with the program. Rob has coached basketball, soccer, and baseball from youth recreational levels through high school for over 30 years. Rob is President of the Junior Lady Knights, a Positive Coaching Alliance Double Goal Coach, and a USA Basketball Licensed Coach. Rob has also coached for South Dayton Knights, Dayton Lady Hoopstars, Team Ohio, and Dayton Metro, including a 2019 3rd Grade Division 1 AAU National Final Four. This is Rob's 14th year in the program. Rob is looking forward to working again with the Class of 2029!
